AGENDA
The week's agenda for science will always be posted here on Monday's and Tuesdays for Science.  The agenda will be posted no later than 12 p.m. on Monday mornings.

To find your science assignments:
NOW ON PADLET AND TEAMS
For Teams:

1. Open up Office 365 found on the Highland Junior High web page and select “Teams”.
2. Find your class period Team and select.
3. Any assignments I created or instructions for the lessons will be posted on the “Posts” page.  (I create and grade the assignments under the “Assignments” page.)

This week continues a 'gentle' start to online science.  It is a learning time for all of us to figure out where to find and use the technology for each class - and have a little fun along the way.  Please try and complete any tasks or assignments by Sunday evening each week as Monday we continue with new assignments.  There are no late grades to help relieve your stress in completing work in your classes but be careful about getting behind in your work. SET YOUR SELF A WORK SCHEDULE – this will help!!

Para encontrar sus tareas de ciencias:

I will be posting assignments/tasks on a daily basis this week as I need to continue learning the technology to create your lessons.  Please be patient.  I will send an email when it is ready. I apologize for this inconvenience.

May 18 - 24

Agenda
You have a week to complete the activities before new work is posted each Monday/Tuesday
Turn in your work in Teams for credit

Monday:
1. Follow instructions in Teams or Padlet on accessing student guide (science book) online.
2. Read "Atoms and Molecules", "Properties of Matter" from online book.
3. Read resource page (attached) also called "Properties of Matter resource page"
2. Answer the "Properties of Matter" reading questions in Forms (link in Padlet and Teams)
Office hours today at 1 p.m.

Tuesday:

A.  Describe Physical Properties of Matter

  1. Using the periodic table, choose three elements and describe at least three physical properties of each element. Please try to come up (research) as many physical properties as you can. (think of all the ways you can describe your elements)
  2. Clearly write the name of the element and a subheading of 'physical properties' with the physical properties you found written under the subheading.

B. Describe the Chemical Properties of Matter

  1. What are the chemical properties of these three substances?  Research what chemical properties your chosen elements have. Be sure to:
  2. Think about what other element might your element (atom) bond with (not all of them will), do they react to heat? cold? what happens if they are put in a liquid?  All or any of these possibilities are considered chemical properties.  If needed, re-read Properties of Matter resource page from Monday (Part 1) also found in your content library - and/or the online book article of the same name
  3. Now, create a subheading "Chemical Properties" under the name of your element (do this for each element).  Under the subheading, "Chemical Properties", list the chemical properties for each of your elements.
  4. you can create this as a word document and upload in the 'Turn In' section of Teams.

Office hours today at 5 p.m.

This is like a block schedule in that you will work mostly on your Language Arts and Science classes on Monday's and Tuesday's.  Your Math and Social Studies classes will be uploaded (ready for you) on Wednesday's and Thursday's

ATTENDANCE
Each weekend, I will record who is opening and/or turning in assignments.  If students are not logging in, I will call or email to see how you are doing and if you need any help on anything.
ASISTENCIA
